Results are not guaranteed

How much smaller a file becomes depends on its content, its dimensions, whether it has been compressed before, and the encoder built into your browser. The figures quoted in our articles are typical ranges observed in practice, not promises. The only numbers we present as fact are the ones the tool measures on your own device and prints in the results table.

Compression can be irreversible

JPEG and lossy WebP discard image detail permanently. Resizing discards pixels permanently. Because nothing is uploaded, we hold no copy of anything and cannot restore a file. Work on copies and keep your originals.

Browser dependence

The tools rely on features of your web browser, principally the Canvas API and Web Workers. Behaviour, speed and even the exact bytes produced can differ between browsers and versions. Very large files may exhaust the memory available to a browser tab, particularly on mobile devices.

Accuracy

We make a genuine effort to be accurate and to correct mistakes when they are pointed out. Even so, the content may become outdated as browsers and formats change, and we make no warranty as to its completeness or current accuracy. If you find an error, please tell us through the contact page.
